Meyricke Serjeantson

March 1
Blenheim to Porirua

A largely uneventful day which, in contrast to some of the others, went entirely according to plan. I breakfasted, packed, went into Blenheim to do some shopping and then drove to Picton where, glory of glories, there were lots of other people waiting to catch the ferry. I waited in the queue, drove on board and settled myself in the cabin.

Farewell South Island

I went outside briefly to wave farewell to the South Island and then sat down again. As we reached the open sea, the Captain came on the PA system and warned us that there were 3 metre swells at the entrance to the channel and that these would get worse as we got closer to Wellington. He was right but I didn’t notice any ill effects. We docked slightly late because of the rough sea and I drove home safely.

Another holiday over and lots of blisters and other bits of sore foot to act as reminders.
